I. Tea Trea Oil Spot Treatment

You’ll Need:

  • A drop of tea tea oil
  • 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel

Tea tree oil is naturally an acne treatment, however it is too harsh fo direct use on skin. That’s where the aloe vera gel comes in. This combination of ingredients in this home made face mask result in hydrated skin. To use this face mask, clean and dry up you skin, apply face mask and keep it on for about 10 minutes, rinse off the face mask and moisturise with the lotion of your choice.

II. Turmeric Face Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
  • A tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of plain yoghurt

Turmeric naturally reduces skin inflammation and honey is rich in antioxidants and has antibacterial properties that can help sooth skin inflammation. Apply this home made face mask on clean skin for 10 – 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly. 

III. Oatmeal Face Mask

  • Oatmeal

Oats have anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in antioxidants. Simply boil oats but don’t add sugar. After they have cooled down, apply the home made face mask onto a clean face. Leave the face mask on for 20 to 30 minutes and rinse off.

Home Made Face Mask For Dry Skin

Dry skin can usually be caused by changing weather conditions and can lead to unhealthy looking skin. If you find that using moisturisers is not enough to get rid of dry skin, try the following home made face masks.

I. Avocado Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup of honey

How/Why it Works:

Avocados are in protein , natural oils, potassium and contain numerous essential vitamins to nourish skin. They work best with dry skin or mature skin but should be avoid by people with oily skin types. This home made face mask is made by simply mashing the avocado and adding honey to the mix.  Apply onto clean skin, leave it on for about 10 minutes and rinse off afterwards.

II. Milk Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 1 teaspoon of powdered milk
  • A tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel
  • 2 drops of essential oil

How/Why it Works:

Milk helps remove the build up dead skin on your skin because it contains lactic acid. This makes it perfect for dry skin. For this home made face mask mix the ingredients together, apply the face mask onto a clean face, leave it on for about 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

III. Cucumber Mask

You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 a cucumber
  • 1 tablespoons of aloe vera gel

How/Why it works:

This home made face mask is very hydrating because of its ingredients. Aloe Vera is useful because it hydrates and heals dry skin. The addition of cucumber to this home made face mask results in cleansing and cooling properties. To make this face mask, cut the cucumber into slices and blend until it is a runny mixture. Add the aloe vera and blend until the mixture is smooth. Apply the home made face mask onto a clean face, leave on for 30 minutes and rinse with cool water.

Home Made Face Masks For Pore Reduction

Pore reduction is essential to avoid congested or clogged pores which are due to dead skin, dirt, excess oil. Congested pores become a problem because they can cause hyperpigmentation and the dread acne. Although pores cannot be “cured”, the following masks are effective in pore reduction.

I. Egg Whites Face Mask

You’ll Need:

  • One egg
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon

The properties of both of these ingredients result tightened skin and reduced pores. For this home made face mask whisk the mixture of these ingredients thoroughly, apply the face mask onto a clean face, leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

II. Rice Flour Face Mask

  • 2 tablespoons of yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • Rice flour

III. Banana Oatmeal Face Mask

  • Cooked Oatmeal
  • 1 banana
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 4 teaspoons of honey
  • 1/2 ripe apple
