Feel more confident:
Being confident is not easy, especially for people that are introverts at heart, like myself. It is not as simple as just saying “be more confident”, and boom, you’re there. It takes a little bit of work. Since I have experience with this topic, I thought I could help you out.
It is important to know that anyone and everyone has the ability to be more confident. So try the following tips, and I assure you that you will feel and be more confident.
***Remember that you are the only thing that is holding you back.
1. DRESS WELL
Dressing up for an occasion will not only help feel like you belong, but it is a definite confidence booster. The way you look is the first impression that people will have of you, so try and put an effort to looking good.
This will help you feel good about yourself, and make it easier to get and do whatever it is that you may not be comfortable doing.
2. KNOW YOUR STUFF
Know what you are talking about. Educate yourself in your field and keep up to date with the latest trends. This will help you have an answer for almost any question in your field.
Be in the habit of being the least educated person in the room so that you can constantly learn from people that are more experienced than you are.
Educate yourself by doing research online or even reading books. But most importantly, do the stuff. There is no better way to learn than through experience.
When you get to a place, act like you actually belong. You are there for a reason, and you deserve to be there so act like it.
Acting timid because you feel like you are less than anyone who is there, will affect your confidence and the overall experience you have. So act like you belong.
4. STEADY STRIDE
Practice having a steady stride and walking with your head help up high. From this action, you will give off the impression that you a confident person who knows exactly what they are there for and where they are going.
Even if you are in a new place, stand tall and look more approachable, so that means you could smile.
When talking to people make eye contact and nod. This make you seem interested and make it easier to talk to people and have them talk to you.
5. I DON’T KNOW
Don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know”
You don’t need to waste people’s time while trying to make something up so that you seem smart. In fact, pretending like you know will just put you in a tough spot and make you more uncomfortable and less confident.
Plus by admitting that you don’t know something, it gives the other person the chance to educate you. So it’s a win win.
6. THEY’RE JUST PEOPLE
Yes, they are just people. All of them. Even the ones speaking at conferences and seminars, they are all just people. They are not super heroes. People are not perfect, we don’t know everything and we all have our insecurities.
So don’t make yourself feel like you are less than anybody else.
7. BE CLEAR
Be clear and concise when you speak, even when requesting something.
What’s the worst thing that can happen? They say No. But you can prepare for that.
Remember that everyone is just people.
Being clear will not make you seem rude or pushy…just confident. Plus this will reduce the risk of not getting what you are actually asking for.
8. THINK POSITIVE
We are usually our biggest critics. Kill the negative thoughts and that will boost your confidence.
Be okay with making mistakes and don’t be afraid of failure. You need to see it a learning opportunity. Don’t worry about what people will think, and be more confident in what you are doing.
9. LEAVE COMFORT
Get out of your comfort zone. Constantly put yourself in uncomfortable situations where your confidence is tested.
Don’t use the fact that you are an introvert as an excuse to avoid certain ventures. Because as you practice, you’ll get better at it. And the next thing you know, you’re a confident introvert.
10. DO YOU
Believe in yourself, in your mission and in your goals. Think positive and know that you can achieve what you put your mind to.Most importantly, don’t worry about what other people think. Just focus on your path and do you!
